AutoTool XPath Picker is a browser extension for test automation. You click its icon, click an element on the page, and it copies a locator for that element to your clipboard: an XPath, a CSS selector, or ready-to-use code for a testing framework such as Playwright or Selenium. This policy describes what the extension does with data as a result.
The table below covers every category of information the extension touches. "Stored locally" means it is written to your browser's own extension storage and never reaches me or any server I control.
| Data | Used when | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| The page's structure (elements and their attributes and text) | While you're picking, to highlight elements and build a locator | Read in the page only |
| The locator you pick | When you click an element | Your clipboard |
| Recent picks: the last 50 locators, with each page's title and URL and the time | Each time you pick | Stored locally |
| Settings (locator style, output format, preferred attributes) | When you change them in Options | Stored locally and synced by Chrome to your own signed-in browsers |
| Name, email, location, payment info, browsing history | Never | Not collected |
The extension has no backend server and makes no requests to any server, mine or anyone else's.
The picker runs on a tab only after you click the toolbar icon or press its keyboard shortcut. It then runs on that tab, including the tab's embedded frames, until you pick an element or press Esc. It does not run in the background, on other tabs, or on pages you haven't started it on.
The extension writes the locator you pick to your clipboard. It never reads your clipboard.
By default, Chrome only lets the extension into frames from the same site as the page you're on. If you turn on Allow cross-origin iframes in the extension's Options, Chrome grants it access to all sites, so it can also run inside iframes from other sites, such as embedded forms. This setting is off by default. Even when it's on, the picker still only runs after you start it, and nothing it reads is transmitted anywhere. You can remove this access at any time from the same Options page.
Right-click the extension's icon and choose Recent picks to see your saved locators, and use Clear to delete them. The Options page lets you change your settings and remove cross-origin iframe access. Uninstalling the extension removes all its stored data, since it was never stored anywhere else.
If this policy changes, I'll update the effective date above. Continued use of the extension after a change means you accept the revised policy.
